Chinese Gongbi Inspired Coasters

This set of four ceramic coasters, part of our World Heritage Coaster Collection, draws inspiration from the refined beauty of Chinese Gongbi painting and its rich tradition of symbolic imagery. Peonies, cranes, bats, lotus flowers, and Mandarin ducks carry wishes for a fulfilling life, with each design celebrating a timeless theme: prosperity, longevity, good fortune, and harmony.

The Peony Garden - Prosperity: The peony has long been associated in Chinese art with wealth, honor, and high standing. In full bloom, it represents prosperity, abundance, and the wish for a flourishing life.

The Crane Beneath the Peach Tree - Longevity: Cranes and peaches are enduring symbols of longevity in Chinese art and tradition. Together, they represent long life, vitality, and the hope for many healthy and fulfilling years.

Bats Among the Clouds - Good Fortune: Through a play on words in Chinese, the bat became a traditional symbol of good fortunes. Flying among the clouds, they represent happiness, prosperity, longevity, wellbeing, and a fortunate life.

Mandarin Ducks & Lotus Pond - Harmony: Mandarin ducks have traditionally symbolized devoted partnership and marital harmony, while the lotus evokes purity and beauty. Together, they celebrate companionship, affection, and a harmonious life shared with those we cherish.
